Missing Maps is a crowd-based, open source, organization that helps aid organizations to map some of the most vulnerable and under-represented populations in the world.
By mapping on Open Street Map from high-resolution satellite imagery we can quite literally ‘put people on the map’. These communities have often never before been recognised in this way. Once you are on a map, aid can be delivered and long-term help planned. In the 21st century, to not be mapped is to be at a severe disadvantage should disaster strike. By bringing together people from across local communities a real difference can be made using the power of a laptop and a bit of pizza (pizza is optional but very much recommended).
Check-out the video below for more and see their excellent website here! If there is not a group local to you, then resources and help are available to let you set one up.
